There seems to be a lot of articles about how millennials are ruining everything. I covered it a few weeks ago. I concluded that millennials dance on the grave on everything that brings baby boomers joy. Kidding! Just kidding!
So here is what is currently on the millennial radar of things to ruin…The Millennial Hit List, if you will…
Applebees is saying that they didn’t bring in the young crowd. They even tried to lure us with their many srirachas and aiolis, but it just didn’t work. It seems like millennials don’t like that. Then, their demographic went “Where the heck did my $9 20 oz Sirloin and baked potato go?!”
Damn Millennials. We ruined chain restaurants! What did people ever do before Applebees?
How can the non-millennial crowd be all like “BUY LOCAL! SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESSES! INNOVATORS RISE TO THE TOP! COME UP WITH NEW IDEAS! OH MY GOD YOU KILLED APPLEBEES YOU MILLENNIAL BASTARDS!”
Yup, millennials are killing beer. According to this article, millennials aren’t drinking as much. On the rare occasion, if we do, we prefer wine and spirits.
I don’t know, maybe this article is skewed towards domestic beer (which I’ve always thought was horrible). To me, it just seems like 13,000 craft beer locations have opened up in my area, Central Illinois, and are doing extremely well. The number of locations is an exaggeration, but maybe it really isn’t.
Millennials aren’t drinking as much, eh? This goes literally in direct conflict with this study in this article: 1 in 8 Americans are Alcoholics. Somebody is drinking. That’s all I am saying.
Now this one seems like the least far fetched of the bunch. I think it is more like “Oh yeah! Why didn’t I think of that?” Cable TV is crummy.
In fact, with HDHOMERUN and the 35 dollar a year DVR service, you can keep on local shows like what is on CBS and CW which aren’t on Hulu (and screw the crappy CBS All Access garbage). Plus, watch local shows live. There is apps on the current consoles and PC. Plus it has Plex integration for Premium users.
I hooked this up the other day and it works fantastic. Our local programming has some additional channels too which is kind of neat. I’m a bit puzzled as to why Central Illinois has reruns of The Cosby Show (eww) but other than that I get a great signal and live TV just about anywhere in my home without having to fiddle with boxes and rabbit ears.
Because as you know… we are basically killing Cable TV.
Last time, we were killing the real estate industry because of our love of avocados. Well, apparently that is not entirely true. According to this article, millennials are buying homes so their dogs have more room.
The source of the article? The American Kennel Club. Well, that seems like an entirely unbiased source and not at all trying to influence the minds of millennials. Hey, when I got a house, I was happy that my cat didn’t have to deal with the noisy neighbors freaking her out.
Here is Spyder-Cat by the way, isn’t she adorable?
However, as much as this cute bundle of cuddles gives me so much joy, she was not the primary decision or motivation in me buying a house. Neither would a dog. It is okay though. I have a house anyway.
That is it for this edition. Keep me posted on what has just made the Millennial Hit List.
