5 Video Game Songs That’ll Make You March Into Battle

Video Game songs and the music in general has an effect on the emotion you feel while playing the game. Hopefully, if nothing else, it drives you to move forward. Here are 5 classic video game songs that I feel motivate me to march on forward into one heck of an epic battle.

Castlevania 2 – Night Theme (Monster Dance)

Remember when it was a horrible night to have a curse, and you had no clue what was about to happen when playing in those first few minutes of Castlevania 2 – Simon’s Quest?

Then this amazing theme kicked in, and you knew that it just got real. This is easily one of those video games songs that brings me to the edge of my seat and from then on out it is pure muscle memory whipping those swamp monsters, zombies, and Madusa heads.

Mike Tyson Punch-Out Match Theme

I think half of what made Punch-Out the highly revered classic it is today is because of that amazing soundtrack. It really was just this one song for the most of it, but damn did it inspire you, as Little Mac, to fight your little heart out. It kind of has that Rocky theme-esque vibe to it. You’re the underdog, but you’re going to come out on top and win.

Final Fantasy VII – Battle Theme

Let us face it, grinding away and leveling up before a boss battle would not be nearly as rewarding in Final Fantasy VII if it weren’t for this epic battle theme. Most of the Final Fantasy games have great battle music but this one is seared into my memory.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 – Chemical Plant Zone

I like to play Sonic the Hedgehog 2, if nothing else, just for this stage’s music alone. One of the best video game songs on Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. It gets me pumped and I become one with my controller as I navigate through the toxic waste and overcome the robots that have inhabited this plant.

Shining Force World Theme

Shining Force is a highly underrated game. Unfortunately, this series is dead in North America and hasn’t been the same since Camelot stopped developing the games in the 90s, but we will always have those first few Shining games, including Shining Force for Sega Genesis. The overworld/battle/general theme song was amazing. I can recount every night. It inspired me to pluck forward to defeat Dark Sol and Dark Dragon. If you like Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics, or any kind of Strategy or Tactical RPG, I highly advised checking out Shining Force I, II, III, the Game Gear games, and Shining Force CD. Definitely all are amazing.

By the way, I found this amazing medley done by this very talented YouTube composer and guitarist.
