It is time for Gimmickslam. This is where I take a look at some of the worst gimmicks in wrestling history. It is time to talk about Isaac Yankem DDS. You may ask “Who the hell is Isaac Yankem DDS?”
After Bret “the Hitman” Hart defeated Jerry Lawler in a Kiss My Foot Match at King of the Ring 1995 (aka the worst WWE Pay Per View in history), Lawler needed to visit his dentist to get the filth out of his mouth. The dentist was angry and was going to avenge Lawler’s honor or something? I don’t know. Most dentists just send a bill and go home with a six figure salary sleeping comfortably at night. However, this is wrestling, and now we enter Isaac Yankem, DDS.
Isaac Yankem (“Yank Them”… GET IT?!?!?!?!) comes across as a bit of sadist, so naturally he’s Lawler’s favorite personal dentist? I don’t know how that relationship was supposed to work out. Here is his debut promo:
5th Evolution (5Evo) takes the wildly popular 5E game mechanics and applies them to new genres: super heroes, WW2, and 80s horror.
Isaac Yankem DDS in Action
Isaac Yankem was a bit green at the time but he showed a lot of promise. However, he was saddled with a character that was essentially dead on arrival. This was in 1995 where we had a wrestling garbage man, a plumber, and naturally, an evil sadistic dentist.
In fact, here is this man taking on the legendary The Undertaker.
Unlike The Goon, WWE didn’t make any merchandise for Isaac Yankem DDS. However, in recent years, Mattel ended up making an action figure for this classic wrestler…
The Future of Isaac Yankem DDS
Of course, shortly after this, the Isaac Yankem character was removed from TV. Too bad for Glen Jacobs. However, I have a feeling things ended up working out okay for that guy.
