E3 2018 begins this weekend and there is always speculation as to what is showing up. We know of the big ones like The Last of Us Part II, Fallout 76, Super Smash Bros, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and many titles are rumored or leaked like Fortnite for Switch and Devil May Cry 5.
So, instead of running through the usual, I have some more off the wall predictions that I would like to see at E3 2018.
A New Virtua Fighter
In this generation of games we’ve been treated to Tekken 7, Injustice 2, Mortal Kombat X, Dragon Ball Figher Z, Street Fighter V, and more. Of course, there was also the highly disappointing Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. We know Soul Calibur VI is coming out. What I would like to see is Virtua Fighter VI.
This series doesn’t get as much love as the others but the series practically carried the Sega Saturn on its back during that rough time for Sega. I would like to see the fight mechanics refined for the modern era and see this series make the comeback it deserves.
Battle Royale Fever
It seems like every game is going to include an unwarranted Battle Royal feature. If we are going to get an unnecessary Battle Royal game, let us make it unique and interesting! What am I talking about?
YUS! I am talking about Goat Simulator: Battle Royal Edition BAY BAY! Now that is a Battle Royal game I can totally get behind.
5th Evolution (5Evo) takes the wildly popular 5E game mechanics and applies them to new genres: super heroes, WW2, and 80s horror.
An Eternal Darkness Revival
Eternal Darkness is one of the best GameCube games of all time, and one of the greatest horror games of all time. Sadly, it has not been seen or heard from since. With Nintendo Switch being all about the gamers, I would like to see a revival for the Switch. Preferably with both an HD Remaster of the original and a sequel.
Can’t forget this scene which set the tone for the game:
A Brand New Conker Game
Hey, I’ve wept about this game before, but I totally feel that a new Conker game should be made. If RARE can’t or won’t, then give it to a new developer. Platform collect a thon games have made a comeback recently, and its time to tear all of those tropes down once again with a new game starring our favorite drunken squirrel.
